TM-Ranking reopens !

" Hello, Hola, Moin, Salut !

Finally... Finally, thanks to many (more than you can imagine) hours of hard work, we brought you back what has to be the website n°1 in the whole TM History. What? Isn't it true? Ok, this is a "re-opening" news item, I'll try to be a bit more serious :D

Well, I know this won't be interesting for a large part of you TM-Rankings addicts, but I had to explain, in the name of the TM-Rankings staff, what happened in the two past months. If you don't care, just disregard the following part :D

So, at the end of December, I think you noticed the website had been turned offline without any previous warming. We apologize about it. The fact is that Duke (who is, to remind you, the creator, the developer, and the one that had the idea of TM-Rankings) completely disconnected from the TM-World. He was, until late December, hosting the website, and paid for it each month. Therefore, we can't blame him for having stopped to host the website. I talked with him, and he told me TM-Actu would certainly assume the website hosting in the future. I had been informed of this a few months before, in October or so, from Boubisis, but I didn't know that was still in discussion. And Duke thought I was part of TM-Actu's project to take the website "under control" (using the commas because it wasn't exactly this, and that my poor English skills couldn't find any better expression :D). When he learnt I wasn't, he told me that it was kind of normal to let me and the other TM-Rankings admins choose about the website's future.

Thus, we entered into discussion with TM-Actu's staff. We found agreements. Their intentions weren't bad (I mean, they didn't want to throw off the current staff to replace it by theirs), also I thought going this way would be a good thing for TM-Rankings. They could've "lent" us their coder(s), and the website could've kept going on. But one problem remained. Their hosting server wouldn't have permitted us to keep the domain name under which everyone(ok, let's say nearly everyone :D) knew the website. Indeed, to go on the website, you could still have typed www.tm-rankings.com, but you would've been re-directed to something likewww.tm-actu.com/tmrankings. When I told Duke and the other TM-Rankings admins, Dec and Moldo (yes, they really deserve to be named), they thought this was a problem. So did I. We all thought this was important the keep the domain name.

My -Lr- teammate, Nighty, had told me in mid-2009 that he would be able to host the website, when I had told him about Duke becoming more and more inactive. So, when we were about to refuse TM-Actu's offer in January, I decided to ask Nighty if the proposition he'd made me was still valid. And it was. But it also had its disadvantages. Nighty has retired from the TM Planet for a long time now, and he told me he wouldn't code anything (he hasn't much free time + he hasn't any wishes to help for something he doesn't really care about, what's perfectly understanble). We came to the conclusion that keeping our domain name was worth not having any coder for a short period of time.

So, Nighty owns the server TM-Rankings is now hosted on (please applause !)

In the following weeks, we'll try to make everything up-to-date (we wanted to do it before annoucing the website was back, but TM-Actu has been faster :D), what will be quite a lot of work I think.

Also, as I said, we're looking for someone that would handle coding enough to help us in the future.

I think that's it. Hoping that you appreciate TM-Rankings being back, the TM-Rankings Crew wishes you to find what you were searching on the website. "
