About a week ago came in the utmost discretion,Hylis on our german colleagues from Slidestar's irc channel.During the time of a small meeting between players and creator, Hylis has talked with Frostbeule,Kaddl,Bergie,Zooz,Zell and others. Thus have been recalled a multitude of topics as much as on TM2 than the current Forever. We will try to sum up what has been talked about...
Let's start with Forever: have been talked about the main problems that players encounter, namely a ladder they find approximative and useless Coppers. Hylis explaining us that a fair Ladder in an impossible thing, and that took them roughly 5 years to end up with this system which is according to him"correct and well done".
When Frostbeule says that this ladder is destined to "newbies" Hylis and Zooz answer back that that's not the case, but it's just more accessible now,and that often the first step to competitions.
About tags, medals and coppers, Hylis explains us that tags and medals are the last points he adjusted before Forever's release and that he will try to make the system more attractive and dynamic for TM2.
About TM2 more precisely, the first questions were about the famous Ubisoft's DRM, but Hylis stayed most evasive and made us understand that he didn't know where it was for now and that he'll think about it.He has just demonstrated that it was perfectly logic for an editor to protect it's titles.
Concerning graphic ressources, he explained that the very old graphic chips won't certainly be able to run the game correctly, but that it stayed nevertheless very light under low settings and a maximal number of computers will be able to run it with good graphics, without too much effort.
About the Track Editor and custom block importation, he answered that there will be a basic block size which will be easy to handle[the blocks] but that other available tricks will be destined to experts. He told us, in a first time the editor will not be that different from the one we know.. big changes and evolutions will not come straight away.
Regarding the map sections copy/paste, he explains us that the whole track will be movable but not part by part.
We learn about the Gameplay that the braking and air control system will stay the same than on Sunrise... And Hylis explains us that they will make everything so that learing the 3 new environements will be very instictive, and this to not sicken the numerous Stadium fans used to only one Gameplay... Maybe a drift environment?
And TM2 and Esport? Hylis explains us that TM2 will never replace TMNF on the worldwide esport scene whatsoever, but the game was planned to work well for electronic sports. His dream is to see TMNF/TMUF/TM2 together on the scene. Kaddle thinks that we will more likely see a TMNF vs TM2/TMUF chart, and that there are no real community but many small one duking it out.Hylis answers him immediatly by telling him that the community was never as big as now,and the number of regular players is increasing, but the thing that is missing to the whole community is a big project in common...
He doesn't conceal us that he fears that TM2's release will bring the whole community to this one soft!He also explains that TM2's future in Esport is more in LAN organizers' rather than his.
Finally, Hylis talks us about manialinks, and quietly sneaks in between 2 questions that there will be, in a month or two, a big update in manialinks according to him that will " increase the number of addicts, and change the way players play!" ...Wait and seeee....
