GuM Mapping Contest !

GuM team and myself are proud to invite you at the last edition of the GuM Mapping Contest on Trackmania United Forever !

For summarize : You have about one month to build a map -free environment choice- respecting some constraints. This delay passed, a party will be organised on our servers to meet all the mappers and test the maps before the result announcement. A sort of GuM Party where you give the food, with a guarantee good atmosphere on Teamspeak !

A jury composed by at least of 3 members of Gum Team will test and note your maps following precise criterias. Each map will have a global note and a detailled comment from jury's feedback. A general classification will be etablished, considering the two attributions.

Jury :

- Yrp
- Hanni
- HeZiX

Prizes :

Coppers prize : too much - over 400.000
If some generous donors give us donations, coppers will be shared by the donor's choice. (login for donations : the_vegnagun)

The constraints :

General constraints :

- The map will be build on one of the seven environments at your choice.
- Hexadecimal modifications are allowed, but it's use must be with moderation and good sense. A bad utilisation of the hexa will be penalized by the jury.
- Enviro mix is forbidden (landscape AND cars)
- Author time (worked) have to be between 55 and 60 seconds. (Penalisation on the notation if the time isn't respected. Nevertheless, we will have a 5 seconds' margin)
- The map itself should be at least technical, but fun, clear and pleasant to race. Every cut have to be removed ! The map must be finishable from every checkpoint and a unique reverse boost in the map is allowed.
- The map that you will send will not have a password.

_________________

Decoration constraint :

- The map, like always, will be nicely decorated. Pleasant to watch, an atmosphere who gets off of it, not too charged, the decoration don't have to bother the race and have to be used intelligently. The particularity of this season, is the decoration theme : "Retro-TM". Simple principle, build a scenery, signs, videos, musics, etc ... things who release some good trackmania memories.

_________________

Avignon constraint :

- The map have to have a "bridge", that is a road who go above an other or a perpendicular offroad. The car must take the road above and below to finish the map. The road above have to be on poles (minimum 2 poles). Viaducts are also allowed. The originality and the quality of your construction will be a part of the notation.

_________________

Checkpoints constraint :

- TMO/TMS environments : The car will have to pass through a checkpoint WITHOUT TOUCHING the bloc ! That is that the car will go between the top of the checkpoint and the ground without touching one or another. All the checkpoints are allowed and must be respawnable.
- TMN environment : Same as above, but the vertical ring checkpoints aren't counted in the constraint. All the others -horizontal ring checkpoint also- will be counted. For all environments, the originality and the quality of the part will be a part of the notation.

Letters constraint :

- Simple principle again : to pay a tribute to the trackmania's epic route, a part of your road have to be like letters. The drawn letters will be "TM", and the car will drive on at least one part of this inscription. Be careful of the road's quality, playability, fluidity, and the incrustation of the "TM" initials will be a part of the notation.

/!\ Be careful about respecting all the constraints, the non-respect of them will be penalized during notation. (We have a fixed table. For information, the two last constraints counts for 50% of the final note.)

- The track (6 points).
This heading on 6 points will evaluate the global quality of the track. If it is "fun/technical", fluid, pleasant to drive, respect of the duration, no more than a reverse-boost, all checkpoints are respawnable, and no cuts, a good note could be considered. No talk about constraints here.

- The decoration (4 points)
If the map is well decorated (this notion is personal of course, that's the reason why we will be 3 to judge), this is, according to me : pleasant to watch, an atmosphere gets off of it, not too charged, not needed to bother the race and have to be used intelligently. If these points are respected, a good note could be considered.

- Avignon's bridge (3 points)
How to note this ... If the car takes no bridge (above and below), we note this with a 0. For a respect of this constraint and an original/a good use of the bridge, the maximal note is necessary. Note if there's several bridges, it's a personal appreciation from the jury to note the worst bridge or not.

- The checkpoint (4 points)
This constaint is hard to respect for the non-mappers, looking at the technicity of that thing. If there's no "flying through checkpoint" in the map, we not this as a 0. A bad construction ot a too random part will worth a 1, same if the checkpoint isn't respawnable. With a good construction, fluid, intuitive and which work everytime, a good note could be considered.

- The letters (3 points)
If the "TM" initials are in the map, but the car doesn't race on it, we note this as 1. If the "TM" initials are in the map and the part where the car race is well thought with a nice incrustation into the decoration and fluid, the maximal not is to consider.

Your map can use the ingame-MT or not, it doesn't help for the notation. Nevertheless, it's strongly recommended to use internal cameras for loopings. On the contrary, if the MT is not pleasant and harms in the quality of the map, you'll see the difference on the final note.

Delays :

You have until Sunday, 1st August 23h59 to give your maps ! After this, no new maps will be allowed.
Careful, only your first sending will count. So take a close look to your map before sending it.

You'll have to send the maps to : gumcontest@hotmail.fr

Thanks to precise your nickname and login on the mail, and also your nickname on the mail title.

The party's date will be specified later !

And now, go into your editors !

The GuM team.
